English Conversation Club
The American Center in Moscow invites English learners of all ages, backgrounds, and speaking abilities to join us on Zoom for weekly meetings of the English Conversation Club every Thursday at 20:00 MSK.
Each session, 6-8 native English-speaking hosts facilitate breakout rooms, which are divided by level of English proficiency (Beginner A1/A2, Intermediate B1, Upper Intermediate B2, and Proficient C1/C2). You are able to choose which room feels like the best fit based on your confidence in English conversation, and you can change rooms at any time throughout the meeting. Each week, discussions are supplemented by a new list of topics & questions.
The English Conversation Club is a wonderful opportunity to practice your English conversation skills under the guidance of native speakers, meet new people, and engage in interesting conversations with people from around the world. We hope to see you there!
Topics for Thursday, July 3rd
Topic #1: Time & Routine
- Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?
- What’s the first thing you usually do when you wake up?
- Do you follow a daily routine, or does your schedule change often?
- How do you stay organized during a busy day?
- Do you prefer having a plan or being flexible with your time?
- What is one habit you would like to change or improve?
- How do you like to spend your weekends?
- What helps you relax after a long day?
- Do you ever feel like there is not enough time in the day?
- What would you do if you had one extra hour every day?
Topic #2: Memory & Childhood
- What is one of your favorite childhood memories?
- Did you have a favorite toy or game as a child?
- What kind of student were you in school?
- Who was your best friend growing up? Are you still friends with them?
- What is something funny or embarrassing you remember from your childhood?
- Did you have any special family traditions?
- What music, shows, or books do you remember from when you were younger?
- What’s something you miss about being a child?
- How have you changed since you were a teenager?
- If you could relive one day from your past, which one would you choose?

Topic #1: Architecture
- What kinds of buildings are common in your region/town/city? Can you describe their style?
- Do you prefer old, historic buildings or modern architecture? Why?
- What is the most impressive building you have ever visited? What made it special?
- If you could design your dream house, what would it look like?
- How does architecture affect the way people feel in a city or neighborhood?
- Are there any famous architects or buildings you admire?
- How important is it for buildings to be environmentally friendly?

Topic #2: Sports
